A volunteer clean-up was carried out at Prophet Elias and in the Panagia Castle area by the Local Committee of Young Volunteer Blood Donors of the Leros association I Zoi.
The association supports voluntary blood donation, organ donation and the donation of haematopoietic cells.
Committee members cleared the site, sending a message about responsibility and respect for the environment and their island.
In a statement, the Leros volunteer blood donors said the activity was more than a clean-up. They described it as an act of responsibility, carried out with respect for nature and affection for a place of particular significance.
They said the area deserved to remain clean, alive and welcoming, adding that service is expressed through action, presence and a way of life.
