Mayor of Leros, Mr Timotheos Kottakis, will respond to seven (7) key questions raised by municipal councillors in a special accountability session of the Municipal Council, scheduled to take place in person at the event hall of Alinda Primary School on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 6:00 pm.
The questions tabled for discussion cover the following thematic areas:
- Municipal revenue management – Presented by Michalis Kolias
- Road safety and traffic network – Presented by Anna Tachliambouri
- Operation of small-scale drinking water desalination units – Presented by Angelos Konstantinidis
- Interruption of street lighting in Partheni and Rachi – A matter of safety and negligence – Presented by Nikos Spyrou
- Waste recycling – Presented by Nektarios Billis
- Municipal procurement procedures – Presented by Vasilios Merabeliotis
- Waste management – A core issue, which includes the following sub-questions – Presented by Kyriakos Grekos
A. Is there a set timeline for the full rehabilitation of the uncontrolled landfill site (HADA) and the management of “baled” waste?
B. When will the construction and full operation of the new Sanitary Landfill for Residual Waste (XYTY) be completed?
Additional questions by Councillor Mr Kyriakos Grekos to be responded to, by Mayor Kottakis, include:
- The extent to which the Technical Programme of the Municipal Port Fund of Leros has been impacted by the recent amendment from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, which mandates a 50% reduction in port fees.
- Whether the current Municipal Technical Programme allows for the inclusion of pavement construction along the main road axis of Kamara area.
