The Port Authority of Leros has issued a notice advising that today, Thursday 18 September 2025, north to north-westerly winds, force 7–8 on the Beaufort scale, will prevail in the area. The notice was issued at 09:30.
HEIGHTENED MEASURES IN FORCE – 18/09/25
Units placed on standby
- Hellenic Coast Guard vessels: Rescue Boat 514 and Patrol Boats 610, 172, 1113, to provide assistance to ships, small craft and persons at sea, if required.
- Military authorities: advised to exercise increased vigilance within their areas of maritime responsibility and to notify the Port Authority of Leros and the JRCC (Joint Rescue Coordination Centre) immediately so that actions can be initiated.
- Hellenic Police, Fire Service, Leros Health Centre/Hospital: on standby to provide support as necessary.
Advice to mariners
- Yacht clubs, marinas and fishing associations are requested to inform their members to avoid activities for the duration of the weather warning.
- Local bodies and authorities (Municipality of Leros – Civil Protection Department; Leros Municipal Port Fund) to be on standby to provide assistance.
- Port Authority of Lipsi: directed to take corresponding action.
