PRESS RELEASE – Once again, we are witnessing political expediency that prioritises personal agendas over the collective interest of our island. The Municipal Council chamber of Leros, a renovated and fully functional space delivered to the citizens by the previous administration, has been arbitrarily labelled by the current leadership as “dilapidated” and “dangerous,” seemingly to undermine another one of our achievements.
Yet, if the Municipal Council chamber is truly unfit for use, why does the Leros Office of the Manpower Employment Organisation (OAED) operate on the very same floor, with staff and administrative personnel working there daily and dozens of our fellow citizens being served?
So, who is deceiving whom?
If the space is indeed hazardous, why is a public service still functioning there?
And if it is not, why has the Municipal Council chamber been closed?
The answer is clear to any citizen observing events with an impartial eye: the current administration has chosen the path of personal vendetta and political retribution, rather than uniting efforts for the good of our community.
It is high time to end the denigration of institutions and the discrediting of projects carried out with diligence and transparency. We call on every resident to judge matters based on the facts and to demand accountability, integrity, and truth.
Leros deserves better.
