The Leros Port Authority has issued an alert for the implementation of heightened safety measures in view of the weather conditions expected on Saturday, 13 September 2025.
According to the relevant forecast, northerly winds of 5 to 6 Beaufort are anticipated in the area, locally reaching 7 Beaufort from midday onwards.
In this context:
- Coast Guard patrol vessels are placed on heightened readiness to provide assistance to ships, small craft, and individuals at sea.
- Military authorities are urged to step up vigilance and to immediately notify the Port Authority of any incidents.
- Local units of the Hellenic Police, the Fire Service, and Health Centres are placed on standby to provide support if required.
- Nautical clubs and local fishermen’s associations are requested to inform their members to avoid any activity during the period covered by the forecast.
- Local authorities, including the Municipality and the Municipal Port Fund, are also placed on readiness to provide support where necessary.
- The Port Station of Leipsoi is instructed to carry out corresponding actions, while all parties are requested to maintain continuous monitoring of telecommunications channels.
The Leros Port Authority underlines the importance of compliance by all stakeholders and citizens in order to ensure safety at sea and on land during the adverse weather conditions.
