The municipal committee of Leros has unanimously approved a three-year extension to the lease for the land in Agia Marina that houses the municipal car park.
The decision, numbered 182/2025 and made during the committee’s session on 11 August, ensures the continued operation of a critical piece of infrastructure for the area’s traffic management.
The 1,450-square-metre plot is leased to the municipality under the terms of the original contract. The agreement stipulates that the lease can be extended in three-year increments, up to a total of twelve years, with the lessor’s consent. The landowner agreed to the extension without requesting any increase in rent, which will remain fixed at €550 per month.
The Mayor of Leros and President of the Municipal Committee, Timotheos Kottakis, stated:
“The lease extension secures the continued operation of a highly useful space for the residents and visitors of Agia Marina. The municipal car park helps to reduce congestion and facilitate traffic flow, particularly during the summer months. The goal of the Municipal Authority is to continue providing solutions that improve the daily lives of our citizens and the image of our island.”
The retention of the Agia Marina municipal car park until August 2028 is significant news for the island, where parking demand is exceptionally high due to tourist traffic during the summer season.
