Leros mayor Timotheos Kottakis travelled to Lipsi to attend a public assembly in the presence of shipping and island policy minister Vassilis Kikilias.
In a social media post, Mr Kottakis said he left Piraeus at 1.30am for Patmos and then continued to Lipsi by inflatable boat.
Those attending included Mr Kikilias, secretary general for the Aegean and island policy Fotis Maggos, Patmos mayor Nikitas Tsambalakis and the new mayor of Lipsi, Evangelia Laountou.
Participants were invited to speak during the assembly and were able to put questions directly to the minister.
The meeting was held in connection with Mr Maggos's presence as secretary general for the Aegean and island policy and Ms Laountou's arrival as the new mayor of Lipsi.
Mr Kottakis's attendance formed part of continuing cooperation among island municipalities and the need for regular dialogue with political leaders on the issues affecting local communities.
