Earthquake Measuring 6.0 on the Richter Scale – Dodecanese and Crete Shaken. A seismic tremor with a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter scale was recorded at 01:51 a.m. on Wednesday, off the coast of Kasos island.According to the revised automatic solution provided by the Greek Geodynamic Institute, the epicentre of the earthquake was located 19 km south-southwest of Kasos, with a focal depth estimated at 62.5 kilometres.

Emergency alert from 112 warning of possible Tsunami

Residents in southern Greece received an emergency alert via the 112 service, warning of a potential tsunami risk following a strong earthquake.

The message read:

Extremely urgent notification Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection – 14/05/2025 – 02:10. A Magnitude 5.9 earthquake occurred 48 km SSE of Kasos. Tsunami warning for your area. Move away from coastal areas now. Follow the instructions from Local Authorities.
