Volunteer Doctors Complete Around 450 Examinations at Leros Hospital

A particularly important mission of offering and solidarity was completed in Leros, through the visit of a team of volunteer doctors from the "Open Embrace" Association, offering valuable medical services to the island's residents. The action is part of the social offering and the provision of free health services.

The tests were carried out from Sunday, April 19, 2026 to Thursday, April 23, 2026. According to the data that became known, only in the Leros Hospital, tests were performed on approximately 450 people, in an action that highlighted once again the importance of prevention, early diagnosis and the essential support of island societies.

Of particular value is the fact that the doctors who participated in the mission offered their services even from their personal time, spending their days off to help the islanders. It is a movement with a strong human and social imprint, which deserves public recognition.

This action is part of a wider context of missions, as, as it became known, eight missions are carried out a year, proving that it is an organised and stable effort with continuity and consistency.

In his statement, Stamatis Kardassis, KTHL commander, expressed his thanks for the mission's offer, stating: "Thank you for the excellent work you did on our islands. We want there to be continuity."

It is also noted that Christina Valinakis, wife of the former Minister Ioannis Valinakis, also participates in the Board of Directors, a fact that lends additional weight to an initiative with a firm orientation towards social contribution.

The presence of "Open Embrace" in Leros left a strong impression, not only for the large number of examinations that were carried out, but also for the message of humanity it sent to the entire local community. At a time when the islands' needs remain high, such interventions point the way and raise hope for even greater support in the future.
