The Mayor of Leros was at the construction site of the port of Lakki yesterday morningTimotheus Kottakis, who was informed in detail about the progress of the work by the responsible engineer of the project, Lambros Syndosis.
In a post on social media, Mrmayor of Lerosstated that the interventions carried out at the port are the best possible, stressing that the site has remained dangerous for the physical safety of citizens and visitors since 2013.
As he noted, the municipal authority is pleased that the project is now nearing completion, which he said will once again allow large passenger ships to approach Lakki.
Mr. Kottakis also made a special reference to the state of the port's foundations, pointing out that, as can be seen from the relevant videos that accompanied his post, there was a serious issue that required immediate attention.
In closing, the mayor underlined that Leros is changing every day, linking the progress of the project to the overall effort to improve the island's infrastructure.
