On Wednesday, April 27, 2026, an underwater cleaning was carried out in the port of Pantelis by professional divers, as part of two-day activities for marine protection organised by the environmental organisation Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF), in the presence of Mayor Leros Timotheus Kottakis, Deputy Mayor Manolis Maravelias, members of the Municipal Authority, as well as the representative of the environmental organisation.
The Municipality of Leros participates and supports the two-day action for marine protection, on May 27 and 28, 2026, in the framework of the nationwide initiative Revive Our Ocean Greece.
The actions include, in addition to underwater cleaning, an educational snorkeling activity for children over 10 years old, as well as a special screening of the international documentary "Ocean with David Attenborough" at the Leros Cinema, with free entry for the public.
The aim of the events is to raise the awareness of the local community for the protection of the marine environment and to highlight the importance of Marine Protected Areas, in the context of the international 30x30 goal to protect 30% of the seas by 2030.
