New Nephrologist Expected to Join Leros Hospital

Once again, theLime familiesproceed with a substantial act of support for the Leros Hospital, putting above all the interest of the local community and public health on our island.

According to what became known, for the third time in a row they are actually supporting the Administration of the Foundation,taking over the accommodation and travel expenses of the new nephrologist, who is expected to soon assume official duties at the Hospital of our island.

The member of the Board of Directors of the Hospital, Mr.Nikos Asvestas, who, speaking exclusively to Leros News, underlined his family's lifelong relationship of giving to the Hospital and Leros.

"The love of our families for the Hospital and for Leros has no "ceiling"",he said, sending the message that support to the Foundation remains stable and substantial.

He acknowledged that there are still difficulties, especially with regard to the temporary solutions given to the issue of Cardiology coverage, however he assured that the effort for definitive solutions continues with intensity and persistence.

At the same time, he made special reference to the cooperation that exists with the Governor of the Hospital, the Board of Directors and the Governor of the 2nd Ministry of Health Mr. Christos Roilos, pointing out that everyone is working with the aim of the best possible result for the Hospital of Leros.

Mr. Asvestas also emphasized that his participation in the Board of Directors is not a position of prominence, but a position of responsibility towards society.

"This position is a position of responsibility. We accepted it out of love for our island. It has no flash, it has no applause, we gain nothing on a personal level. But we know that, in a difficult time for our Hospital, we are trying for the best possible for our island and our families",noted.

As he also mentioned, he usually avoids public positions, choosing work over words, however he expressed confidence that with a little more patience the Hospital's image will improve day by day.

Of particular importance, as he said, is the fact that significant reinforcements have already been launched for the Foundation, such as the 8 new nursing staff positions, the second anesthetist position, as well as the arrival of the new nephrologist, developments that strengthen the feeling of security for the local community.

In closing, Mr. Asvestas stated that he understands the problems and reactions expressed, while asking for understanding and fair criticism.

This new initiative comes to be added to a series of actions that practically strengthen the Leros Hospital, in a period where the need for constant support and collective effort remains more important than ever.
