Leros Theatre Group Stages Classic Greek Comedy in Lakki

Its main stageTheatre Group of Lerospresents Alekos Sakellariou's comedy "OUR LADY MOTHER" on Thursday April 30, Friday May 01 and Saturday May 02 at 9:00 pm at the Municipal Cinema of Lakki.

A few words about the project:

A doctor takes his pension and moves with his family to his wife's village, Lestinitsa. There, he comes into conflict with the midwife who has won the trust of the villagers with her "traditional" and often unorthodox methods. Scenes of everyday life in a village and unpredictable conflicts lead to comical situations!

A comedy, known from Greek cinema, that Alekos Sakellarios wrote and directed in 1958! And yet even today it remains timeless and relevant. The characters of the play, the plot, the innocence of an era that was lost and will not return, the conflict between science and "practice", etc. All this given with the wonderful pen of Alekos Sakellarios is transferred to the theatre stage and the comic actions and moments lead to frenzied laughter that in the end the spectators will leave the theatre "lightened" and happy!

Our times are difficult, as times were and always will be difficult for ordinary people. And if they change rapidly, the body will always store in its old suitcases the lost homeland of mother, father, grandfather and grandmother. The lost homeland of first love, the lost homeland of innocence in the gaze, the lost homeland of longing for a summer that will hopefully come, with the promise of the first bath in a sea that will always unite people in the primordial blue bottom of "together".

And if the midwife's spells do not always cure, it is that sly hidden smile for the happy ending of the story that will calm, if only for a moment, the age-old fear of the unknown "after" that no doctrine has so far managed to provide convincing answers.

Each of us will go to Lestinitsa with our own luggage. But it is the laughter, even the different look at the sufferings of our heroes, that will unite us even for a while in an eternal journey of a single life.

And laughter always washes away fears and certainties, my dear fellow passengers, and it is precious because it always unites people, laughter and the sea...

And if they look at us, do you happen to think that the midwife will always have blue beads in her pockets?
