At the peak of the tourist season, Leros is "drowning" with tourism, as Fotis Giannakos, an entrepreneur of the island who is active in the field of tourism with accommodation in the area of Gourna and catering with a business of health interest, told Real Voice 99.5 and Natasa Pambri, on the show "Together at 10".
Mr. Giannakos is a member of the Dodecanese Chamber of Commerce, in the Service Provision department.
As he mentioned, in this period of August it is difficult to find an available room in Leros, and especially during the peak season of Panagia, August 8 to 18, pointing out once again that the goal is to extend the tourist season in the months of September and October, in order to move the market and stimulate the local economy of the island.
The island is dominated by visitors from the opposite Turkish coasts and Greek travelers, not only from the Dodecanese, but from all over Greece who choose the destination for holidays, as well as Italians, French, British, Swiss and Scandinavians.
