Leros Hospital Opens New Preventive Health Clinics

The management of the Leros State Treatment Centre, General Hospital and Health Centre announced the opening of two new specialist preventive health and care clinics.

The initiative forms part of the hospital's continuing work to strengthen public health, promote prevention and early diagnosis, and improve residents' overall quality of life. The clinics operate under the supervision of doctors Evangelos Markakis and Sevasti Hatzidaki.

The new clinics

• Cardiovascular Risk Assessment Clinic: identifies and manages factors that may threaten cardiovascular health.
• Obesity Clinic: provides specialist support and medical monitoring for the treatment of obesity.

Who can use the services

The clinics are intended for people taking part in Greece's national Prolamvano preventive screening programme.

Appointments and access

The hospital set out a mandatory process intended to support the smooth running of the clinics and provide better service to patients:

• Book an appointment for the Cardiovascular Risk Assessment Clinic through the Outpatients Secretariat.
• Attend the appointment and undergo an assessment by the relevant medical staff.
• Receive a confirmation text message from the Prolamvano programme if the necessary criteria are met.
• Book an appointment at the Obesity Clinic after the assessment has been completed.

The hospital stressed that patients cannot book directly with the Obesity Clinic without first undergoing the cardiovascular risk assessment.

On the day of the appointment

Patients should first report to the Outpatients Secretariat and then follow staff directions to the appropriate clinic.

The hospital said public participation in preventive care is a fundamental part of protecting health and building a healthier future.
