Fire Safety Project Approved for Leros and Kalymnos Hospitals

With the no. prot. 705/26-03-2026 decision of the Regional Governor of South Aegean, Mr. Georgios Hatzimarkos, the critical project was included in the "South Aegean" Programme 2021-2027"Installation of fire protection at Leros State Hospital and Health Centre and in Kalymnos General Hospital and Health Centre "The Vouvaleo"", total budget728.196,09 €with the co-financing of the project byEuropean Regional Development Fund.

What does the project for our Hospital include?

The aim of the act is the complete shielding of the health facility in accordance with the applicable fire regulations. The main interventions include: Installation of a fire extinguishing network, Detection and extinguishing systems, Establishment of protection and escape measures and staff training. The start date of the Act is defined as01/12/2026, with a horizon of completion of the works until30/06/2028.

Its Board of DirectorsState Hospital - General Hospital - Leros Health Centreexpresses its particular satisfaction for the issuance of the accession decision. With the implementation of this critical project, the safety of its patients, visitors and staff is substantially upgraded at Leros Hospital, its infrastructure is modernized with the support of the South Aegean Region and the European Union.

Regarding this development, the Governor of Leros State Hospital and Health Centre said:

"The safety of our patients and staff is our non-negotiable priority. With the inclusion of this project in the NSRF, we are shielding our Hospital with the most modern means of fire protection, turning our infrastructure into a completely safe health environment. We thank the South Aegean Region and the 2nd Ministry of Health for the excellent cooperation that leads to the upgrading of the services provided on our island."
