At midday on Sunday (31.05.2026), the Port Authority of Leros was informed of a mechanical breakdown of a French-flagged sailboat (I/F) with two foreigners on board (French nationals) in the "PARTHENI" sea area north of Leros.
Immediately, the Local Emergency Plan was activated and a LS-EL.AKT patrol boat went to the scene. (PLS) and the fishing (A/C) vessel "KOSTAS" N.L. 72.
The I/F vessel sailed safely to the marina of Leros with the assistance of the A/K accompanied by the PLS.
The Port Authority of Leros prohibited the sailing vessel from departing until the presentation of an airworthiness certificate by the classifier monitoring it, while no injuries were reported from the incident and no marine pollution was observed.
