THEDodecanese Member of Parliament, Mr. Manos Konsolas, with his parliamentary intervention to four (4) Ministers, refers to the need to extend the operating time limit of the entry-exit gate at the port of Leros.
Mr. Konsolas emphasizes that based on the Official Gazette issued on April 29, the operation of the entry-exit gate began at the beginning of May for a period of 8 months.
He states that the entry-exit gate is not only for ships and visitors from Turkey, but also for marine tourism and points out that there are approximately 2,000 pleasure boats in Leros, while there is a constant movement of boats that necessitates the annual and uninterrupted operation of the entry-exit gate.

SUBJECT: "Twelve-month duration of the operation of the entry-exit gate at the port of Leros"
Dear Ministers,
The operation of checkpoints for the entry and exit of citizens from the country, be it ports or airports, is a decisive factor for the economic and tourist development, especially of areas in island Greece.
AtLerosthe operation of the entry-exit gate at the port of Agia Marina began at the beginning of May. As provided for in the relevant gazette, issued on April 29, the entry of persons into Greek territory and exit from it at the port of Agia Marina in Leros is allowed for a period of 8 months with operating hours from 05:00 to 23:00.
The gateway is not only for ships and visitors from Turkey but also for maritime tourism.
About 2,000 pleasure boats remain in Leros, while there is a constant movement of boats which necessitates the annual and uninterrupted operation of the entry-exit gate.
This can be done from 2027, but it requires the timely preparation of the relevant ministries and services, the reinforcement of the equipment and the improvement of the infrastructure, as well as the reinforcement of the Leros police station with personnel for passport control.
The twelve-month operation of the entry-exit gate at the port of Leros is a given that it will give impetus to the development of maritime tourism, but also to economic and social life on the island.
Following the above
